July Bulletin

Keep Our Nation In Thy Care

We are faced with many problems that grow bigger day by day,

And as we seek to solve them in our self-sufficient way,

We keep drifting into chaos, and our avarice and greed

Blind us to the answer that would help us meet our need.

Oh God, renew our spirits and make us more aware

That our future is dependent on sacrifice and prayer.

Forgive us our transgressions and revive our faith and see,

So we may all draw closer to each other and to Thee.

For when a nation is too proud to kneel and daily pray,

It will crumble into chaos and descend into decay.

So stir us with compassion and raise our standards higher,

And take away our lust for power and make our one desire

To be a shining symbol of all that’s great and good

As Thou leads us in our struggle toward new-found brotherhood.

Family Nights

For some time we have had Family Night once a month for the first five months of the year & Bro. Curt Rassi has coordinated the speakers.  We have tried to have one home minister and four visitors.  We are seeking your input on how many months you would like to have Family Night & your suggestions for possible topics & speakers.  Please contact Bro. Curt or any of the ministers with your suggestions.  Thanks!

Volunteer Opportunity

Since Vera Aberle’s stroke, her family has been a bit overwhelmed with fixing meals, etc.  They would appreciate help with main dishes … ex: casseroles, etc.  Visitors are also welcome!  Also, it would be greatly appreciated if volunteers could come sit with Vera on Sunday afternoons so Carol can attend church services.  If you have any questions, please call Carol at 678-5956.  Thank you for your willingness to help.

Tips for Keeping an Elder Overnight

There have been some questions on what to do when you are keeping an elder or retired elder overnight during conference week … so, here are some tips!

Just make them feel welcome!  They may or may not be interested in a snack at night.  And, they may want to get to bed early.  Some will be ready to visit & some will not.

Attached to this bulletin is a schedule that they will be keeping during the week.  Please help them to arrive at the church or fellowship hall at 8:00 a.m. or shortly after on Wednesday & Thursday morning so the meetings can start promptly at 8:30 a.m.  On Wednesday evening the meeting should be done between 8:00-9:00 p.m.  On Friday morning, they are to assemble in the church basement at 8:45 a.m.

When you find out which elder or retired elder you will be keeping … it is a good idea to call them & welcome them as well as find out if they have any food preferences for breakfast and evening snacks.  Most will prefer that you not prepare a huge breakfast since we will be sitting all day.  If you have any questions, feel free to call or email me. – Bro. Chuck

Father/Son Night at BRUNNER’S CABIN

Father/Son Night is planned for Friday, July 24th.  Please sign up by Sunday, July 19th if you plan to attend.

A-H (bars), I-O (chips), P-Z (fruit)

Also … please bring a lawn chair & flashlight.

Invitations will not be sent, but you can pick up info sheets at the information center.

Rotating Potluck

We once again encourage everyone to participate in Rotating Potluck.  Even if you only sign up for one or two months, it will be an opportunity to spend time in fellowship with different people throughout the year.  Relationships grow when we break bread with one another.  There are questionnaires available at the information center at church.  Please fill them out & turn in by July 19th if you are interested.  Thanks!

Reminder

Just a reminder that we will not be having the adult church potluck in August this year because of conference activities.  Thanks!

To All Parents:

The sisters refilling milk & water pitchers, & especially coffee pots, are concerned with the number of children that are in the area of the dining room between the south end of the tables & the serving counter.  It would be appreciated if you would see to it that your children are not in this area over the noon hour.  We would hate to have someone burned with hot coffee.  Thanks for your cooperation.

Please note that on Thursday & Friday during the conference, the Tremont Congregation should park in the grass on the East side of the Fellowship Hall.  This may be accessed through the parking lot or through Chestnut Place.  Parking attendants will be directing traffic each morning.  Thank you!
