April Bulletin

In His Hands

The hands that made the world & gave the sun & moon their light

Are the tiny hands of a baby born one cold December night.

The hands that stilled the wind & tamed the fury of the sea

Are the calloused hands of a carpenter who lived in poverty.

The hands that held the power to break the binding chains of sin

Are the gentle hands that washed the feet of tired & dusty men.

The hands that cleansed the leper, healed the blind & raised the dead

Are the praying hands of One who cried “Not My Will, But Thine Instead”.

The hands that shaped the universe & flung the stars in space

Are the nail-pierced hands of a dying man who suffered in our place.

The hands of our Creator, Lord & King of Heaven above

Are the Savior’s Hands, forever reaching out to us with love.

Crown Biblical Financial Study Program

Several months ago we announced that our congregation would start the Crown Biblical Financial Study Program.  Since that time, several actions have taken place:

*A Minister Liaison has been named

*A Congregation Coordinator Couple has been assigned

*Strong interested was received from over 25 couples & a number of singles.

As a result, the first group was formed & has been meeting weekly since January, & has finished their study this week.  Their objective was to experience the study, & ready themselves to become Group Coordinators for future groups.   From their weekly studies & experience, they have all expressed their appreciation for the bible study material, the benefits of learning biblical principles together, & the blessings of drawing closer to each other & to our Lord through our weekly meeting.  The plan is now to form five additional groups of 10 people in each group.  The new groups will include these couples, & begin the Crown Study on a larger scale for the whole congregation.  Most of you who have already expressed interest have been assigned to one of these five future groups & will be contacted by your Group Coordinator.  This next round of study will likely start sometime in April or May.  As indicated in the initial announcement, this is a long term, multi-year program, which will start small & grow as the interest grows & group coordinators are available.  Now the group coordinators are trained & available & as a result, over 50 people will begin the study in the next session.  Again, to review the overall program, this is a 10-week consecutive Bible Study that focuses on God’s financial principles.  Regardless of your age or financial stability, anyone, members or friends, who has a role in managing their household’s finances, or anyone who has a desire to learn biblical principles, should consider participating.  Couples are encouraged to attend together, while adult singles are also encouraged to attend.  If you are interested in participating, or have any questions please contact Bro. Chuck  Sauder, Curt Rassi, or Andy Aberle.

Winter Work Project in Oakville Extended

The Winter Work Project in Oakville has been extended through the end of May.  There is still a need for volunteers to complete the work in the homes that are at or near the finishing stage.  Finish carpenters are needed to install kitchen cabinets & trim out doors & windows.  Painters, flooring installers & general laborers are needed.  The scope of the work has expanded to include the renovation of the FH.  The goal is to have the completed by the end of May.  Please check www.acworldrelief.org for available dates or contact Bro. Stan Heimer in Oakville at 319-572-7452 or email: stamh65@aol.com

Thanks to all for your continued support of this project.  May God richly bless each act of love!

Conference Accommodations Update

The accommodations committee would like to give you an update.  We have looked at how many beds were needed for previous conferences in surrounding churches, & we think we will need around 300 beds.  During our last Tremont conference in 1992 we used 327 beds.  Thankfully we have had many of you respond with a willingness to open your home.  We are planning on asking the Morton brethren to provide some beds, also.  However, we are quite short of our need, with 156 beds being offered so far.  So, we are asking one more time if anyone else would have an available bed for one night, which would be Thursday, August 13.  We do not want to put a hardship on anyone, but there may be some who have changed their mind or have been missed.  We still need 140 beds.

For all who are planning to keep someone, you will be given a hosting paper later with the information of the person’s name & contact number of who you will be hosting.  We will keep you informed.  We will be getting the results back from each church on who is coming in July.  Thank you & may the Lord bless you.
